Harley White Jr. Orchestra
An Oakland native and the son of prominent bassist and educator Harley White, Harley White Jr. was raised on orchestral Blues from the 20s to the 50s, which is present in his music. Heavily influenced by the styles of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Louis Armstrong, he and his band members push the boundaries of Blues by weaving in influence from genres like Funk, Latin, and Cabaret.
Beyond the Harley White Jr. Orchestra, Harley has lead Papa’s Culture (Electra records) and The Original Heads (Faith Evans). He has worked with notable artist such as Melvin Van Peebles, Raphael Saadiq, Cake, Faith Evans, Nelson Riddle, Blackalicious, Ben Harper, the Count Basie Orchestra, Amiri Baraka, Trio Casindio (José Montoya), and Dr. Echo.
