A Night of Acoustic Music: Iain Matthews & Clara Bellino
Iain Matthews first gained attention as a founding member of and vocalist for Fairport Convention. After parting ways with the group in 1969, Matthews formed Matthews’ Southern Comfort and had a #1 UK hit with Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock.” Never one to stand still for very long, he became a part of Plainsong, an ensemble that allowed him to blossom as a songwriter, acoustic guitarist, and honor the works of Richard Fariña. Plainsong was supported by his ex-Fairport mates, Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson, both in the studio and on tour. Between his own solo projects and Plainsong, Matthews has released a total of 10 albums—all receiving praise and critical acclaim.
