Fulfilling a long-time dream to assemble his own band, Mic Gillette brought together Megan Gillette McCarthy, Greg Barker, Dave Hawkes, Clint Day, and Matt Martinez to create MGB. Gillette is a founding member of Tower of Power and 40 years deep into trumpet and trombone. Outside of Tower of Power, he has performed with Cold Blood, The Sons of Champlin, and appeared on albums with Santana, The Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow, The Doobie Brothers, Quincy Jones, Rod Stewart, Elton John, and Jefferson Starship.

Mic’s daughter, Megan, is a published songwriter and singer on her family’s album, Newvo Kids. She has also had the opportunity to play percussion on stage with Little Feat, Michael McDonald, Willie Nelson & The Doobie Brothers. Greg Barker is a Bay Area native and has been performing professionally since 1983. In addition to attending the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Dave Hawkes is a graduate of California State University Stanislaus and has studied with notable drummers David Garibaldi and Dave Weckl. Clint Day has been playing jazz, funk and blues for the past 25 years. Day began studying music at Columbia College in California in 1982 under Dr. Rod Harris and finished his studies at San Jose State University in California. Matt Martinez became a performing musician at 17 and “just loves playing.”
