Very few musicians celebrate their 70th birthday by releasing a double album and even fewer are still touring the world. After upwards of 55 eventful years as a musician, bandleader, arranger, and composer, Pee Wee Ellis can claim all of the above. With James Brown, Ellis produced 26 famed tracks—including the anthemic hit “Say It Loud I’m Black and I’m Proud”—and cemented Funk as a genre.

We are pleased to welcome Dave Mathews (keys), John Mader (drums), Curtis Ohlson (bass), Mike Rinta (trombone), Vernon Black (guitar), Fred Ross (vocals), Kitty Margolis (vocals), and the iconic Funk mastermind, Pee Wee Ellis, to our stage.
