Russo Alberts Trio with Sharky Lewis & Special Guest Charlie McCarthy

With years of shared experience on the bandstand, Don Russo (bass), Don Alberts (piano), and Art Lewis (drums) first met as aspiring young players in vibrant 1950s San Francisco jazz scene. Then, going their separate ways in the 60s, Alberts moved to Portland, OR, for a pair of decades where he played regularly with the great singer Nancy King and bass masters David Friesen, Leroy Vinnegar, and Glen Moore. Meanwhile, Lewis spent several years on the road with vocalese pioneer Jon Hendricks before heading to NYC, where he worked with Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Lee Konitz, Sam Rivers, and Andrew Hill. And Russo lit our for Detroit where he played with Bubby Hatchet, Marcus Belgrave, Dan Turner, and Leon Hatkins. Finally reuniting, the trio celebrated their return with the 2005 album Rejuvenation. Always swinging, always fierce, the trio brings their own intense and intelligent jazz.
