A Night of Acoustic Music: Sheri Ross

Sheri Ross is a violinist, educator, and composer based in Santa Cruz. Currently performing with the Silicon Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, she also teaches violin in private lessons and assists with the Los Gatos-Saratoga High School District music program.

Sheri began playing the violin at age 5, under the wing of Samuel Hungerford. From 2001 to 2009, she attended Cabrillo College—studying Jazz theory, improvisation, and performance with the Director of Jazz and renowned trumpeter, Ray Brown. In 2010, she transferred to San Jose State University to study performance with violinist Diane Nicholeris of the San Francisco Symphony. Sheri continued with Jazz performance in 2011 with Wayne Wallace’s Latin Jazz Ensemble, John Shifflett’s Jazz Combos, Jeff Lewis’ Big Band Concert, as well as performed with the late Frank Sumares. She graduated cum laude in May 2013 with a Bachelors of Music in Performance and Music Education.
