Mumblefinger (aka Brian Birkes, the vocal and guitar guy) is a singer-songwriter, storyteller, and humorist who has released many CDs independently. His songs have been showcased on the nationally syndicated House of Blues Radio, NPR, and other radio stations in the U.S., Germany, and Brazil. He has also had his songs and video played on CMT (Country Music Television).
While living in Nashville, Mumble collaborated on the stellar album, The Beckett Sessions, with legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section member and record producer Barry Beckett.
Mumblefinger’s original songs vary from Funk and Jazz to Blues and Soul to Country and Reggae—all with a Rock –n– Roll flavor. Mumblefinger’s musical style is similar to, but not a clone of, Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Dr. John, Robin Trower, the Subdudes, and JJ Cale.
With songs like his ballad “Rental,” which is an ode to a prostitute; “Jeanie,” a Cars-like tune about a teenage heroin addict; to his funked-up “Stalker Song,” you are bound to be entertained. The band always includes Northern California’s top musicians.
